Therapy & Process:
How do I know if I should consider therapy?
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support when they feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, anxious, disconnected, burnt out or unsure how to manage certain difficulties. Therapy can also be a space for self-understanding, emotional growth and support during life transitions.
What can therapy help with?
Therapy may help with anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, emotional regulation difficulties, ADHD-related challenges, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, grief and feeling overwhelmed or emotionally stuck.
What happens in the first session?
The first session focuses on understanding your concerns, experiences and what has brought you to therapy. It is also an opportunity to ask questions, discuss goals and begin developing a sense of whether the therapeutic space feels supportive and appropriate for you.
How long are therapy sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions differs from person to person. Some individuals seek short-term support around a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. This depends on your goals, the nature of the difficulties and the pace that feels appropriate for you.
How often should therapy sessions be?
Weekly sessions are often recommended initially to build consistency and therapeutic momentum. Over time, session frequency may change depending on your needs and progress.
Is therapy confidential?
Therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions. These include situations where there is serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, concerns regarding abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable person or when records are required by law.
What are your therapy rates?
I charge medical aid rates at R1200 per session.
Do you accept medical aid?
